Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)

Edgar Wright’s lively editing style and visual humor peak during this quirky story about one nerd’s legendary journey to fulfill his destiny and level up

This is Edgar Wright’s best film. The color, visual humor, and editing bring this comic book chronicle to life. Every scene harmlessly flows into each other with seemingly perfect pacing. Scott Pilgrim has better acting, editing, and visual humor per minute than most other films. Each scene is cleverly thought out and feels like a video game cutscene that was left without interruption. This is a masterclass in using visual real estate maximally. The character development is excellent! I fell in love with the cheesy, tongue-in-cheek humor Scott awkwardly lives in. Each actor brings their A-game (and it looked like they were having fun while doing it). There are NO weak links.

This is personally one of my favorite movies. I’ve seen it countless times, yet the laughs in this film don’t get old. It’s the most fantastic, most awkward hero story of self-respect.
